What is Diastasis Recti? It is a separation of the outermost abdominal muscles. When the muscles separate, the connective tissue joining these muscles stretch sideways leading to a weak core and back pain in most cases.
Can it be fixed and if yes how? Yes, through the correct Pilates exercises and movement patterns this separation can be reduced and many times closed altogether.
Can Diastasis Recti happen to anyone? Yes Diastasis Recti can occur in any person, but it is very common among postnatal women and must be addressed before more damage is done.
Through one on one Pilates sessions we can help to decrease or close the amount of separation. It is important that you are exercising correctly, because poor and incorrect form can cause further separation and that is why it is so important to be careful with what exercises you do and how you do them.
